A research platform for studies that use connected health device data
MyTrack+ supports the research teams running those studies, from participant enrollment through the personalized feedback each participant receives every week.
One platform for the whole study
MyTrack+ is a research application built for studies that draw on data from connected health devices, such as health wearables and smart scales.
Research teams use it to manage study participants, to collect participant-authorized data such as physical activity, food logs, and weight logs, and to communicate with participants by text message.
What research teams can do
-
Enroll and manage participants
Register participants for a study and issue the participant ID and access code each one uses to join.
-
Collect authorized device data
Gather physical activity, food logs, and weight logs once a participant has granted access to their connected health device account.
-
Review collected data
Review each participant's data as the study progresses, so gaps in adherence surface while there is still time to act.
-
Send personalized feedback
Write weekly feedback messages and set each participant's delivery preferences, including the time window and mobile number used.
Access is limited to authorized members of the research team, who sign in through their university's single sign-on.
Currently supported devices
-
Google Health and Google Health–compatible devices
Fitness trackers and smartwatches that report to a participant's Google Health account, including Fitbit devices. Physical activity, food logs, and weight logs are collected through that connection.
-
BodyTrace smart scales
Cellular-connected weight scales that send each reading on their own. A participant steps on the scale and the measurement reaches the study without a phone, an app, or a pairing step.
What taking part involves
Participants join a study using the participant ID and access code their research team provides. They then choose whether to link their connected health device account: data is collected only after a participant explicitly grants that permission.
Once enrolled, participants receive a weekly text message containing a private link to feedback prepared for them. Each link is unique to the participant who receives it and expires six days after it is sent.
From enrollment to feedback
-
Enroll
The research team registers a participant and issues a participant ID and access code.
-
Authorize
The participant signs in and grants the research team permission to access their connected health device data.
-
Collect
With that permission in place, the platform gathers the physical activity, food logs, and weight logs the study relies on.
-
Receive feedback
The participant receives a weekly message with a private, expiring link to their personalized feedback.
How study data is protected
Within a MyTrack+ study, data is stored under a participant ID rather than a name. The only identifying detail kept is the mobile number needed to send messages, and it is stored encrypted. Feedback links are unique to each participant and expire on their own, so they cannot be reused later.
This public website is separate from that platform. It provides information about MyTrack+ and nothing more: it has no participant sign-in, forms, analytics, or embedded services, and it does not collect, store, or process study or health data. Data practices for a specific research study are described in that study's approved materials.
Read the MyTrack+ website Privacy Statement for details about this site's limited server logging.
